MCRMF was established in 2009 by friends who share the same passion and belief as Maria Cecilia Rosa did for higher education. The foundation is comprised of eight active board members made up of teachers, professionals and law enforcement personnel.
Cecilia came to the United States soon after her mother passed away. Cecilia attended Millikan High School in Long Beach and later became a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff. While establishing her career as a deputy sheriff, she continued to pursue her academic goal for higher education. She graduated from Long Beach City College with her A.A. and was a month shy of receiving her baccalaureate degree from California State University, Long Beach in 2006. Her long term objective was to obtain a Master’s degree.
Cecilia was a driven individual that believed it was important to strive for an educated self; to give back to the community.
MCRMF believes everyone should be afforded the opportunity to achieve their academic goal. Through our scholarships, we hope to bridge the financial gap for deserving candidates who are just as committed to higher education as this foundation is.
